Meet Caitlin VanDusen . Lovesome Letters
Hand Letterer – Designs prints, printables and custom invitations
I’m honored to share this amazing woman’s work with you, as she is the ‘hand lettering’ behind the Be You and Thrive logo. I saw her work and had to ask if she would be a part of this new brand! So I will forever be grateful to Caitlin for creating this beautiful BY&T ‘visual’ which is now such a big part of my life.
Caitlin believes her love for ‘creating’ came from her grandmother who loved to make things with her hands (baking, painting, sewing and knitting) and it was no surprise to her that she ended up graduating college with a degree in graphic design. Caitlin enjoys learning new skills and on a whim years ago, took a brush lettering class. She says, ‘I didn’t take to it right away, because it is tough!’ Yet she is grateful to have circled back to this art form and with time, practice and support from family and friends, began her business, Lovesome Letters.
I am personally inspired by her reason behind her artwork: ‘Coming from a creative background, the way things look has always been important to me. So if I can offer encouragement and hope to women in a beautiful way, that is exactly what I want to do. I want others to feel and know how fiercely they are loved and cared for, and if one of my images can make you stop and think and realize that, I think that is pretty amazing. It is a gift to me to be able to give that to someone.’

Meet Kim Bullen . Josephine’s World
Artist—Art the stirs the heart
‘One afternoon, after 20 years of artistic dormancy, I was moved to paint. Five days later, my heart-strings were brought to life on a multitude of recycled canvases. All were scattered on my living room floor where life and love collided—creating a world I never wanted to leave. This artwork is meant for anyone willing to receive and in need of a little encouragement—primitive messages of hope, love and forgiveness. These visions are testimonies in an unseen world…stories of hope and a future.’
I met Kim last year and have been inspired by her and her gifts of talent ever since. Each piece she creates with such heart and passion, is also accompanied with a heartfelt and dynamic message. (Click on her artwork above and below to read the stories behind these paintings). Her website, titled, ‘Josephine’s World’ represents, ‘A higher calling for us all’. She describes Josephine as, ‘My mental mascot. My thread of hope who weaves herself into each painting to remind me to simply be! She encourages us all to rise above the difficult times and discover…a place where freedom, joy and purpose abide…a place of simplicity and childlike faith…a place where the grass becomes green right beneath your feet…a place where gratitude breeds testimony to a hopeless situation.’

Meet Lauren Brod . Tone + State
Calligrapher and Stationer
Lauren’s inspiration is drawn mostly from nature and natural paper treatments. Her style is organic but still refined, housing elements like paper marbling, hand drawn illustration, watercolor, dip dye, and other similar mediums. She shares, ‘Words live beyond minutes, so I believe in encouraging, writing things down, and being intentional about letting those that matter most, know it. That is why I love stationery, gifting, and memorable art prints customized to keep the important things that happen displayed beautifully.’
I have had the privilege of connecting with Lauren and have been instantly drawn to her passion for people and for living an intentional life. Her work as an artist goes far beyond the paper—she has a beautiful desire to create change.
