Providing women educational & insightful resources to live an intentional lifestyle.
At the beginning of this week I shared on social media that I was going to practice the art of “under thinking,” aka be aware of my over-thinking. Have you ever had thoughts like: What if? I wonder why? Could I have done better? What’s next?
I was really enlightened by the response to my post. It seems as though we have all encountered the challenges of over-thinking. Some of us even struggle with it on the day-to-day.
Research shares that every day the average person has about 50,000 thoughts. And some researchers put that number at 70,000 thoughts per day. That’s an average of 2,000 – 3,000 thoughts an hour! That is a lot of thinking!
When you consider these facts, and then ask yourself how you are directing your own thoughts, what would your answer be? Do you realize you have the ability to choose one thought over another? Are you aware of your over-thinking?
It harnesses you and keeps you static.
This week in The Practice of Living as We Intend podcast, I dive into why we over-think and how we can do otherwise. I share some ideas on how you can identify when you’re over-thinking and then how to challenge those thoughts. (And I share some pretty funny stories en route!). We have 50,000+ life-changing opportunities a day to guide our experiences in a positive and growth-fueled direction— take action with me and let’s practice living as we intend together!
We are better together my friend!

Something that I need to continually work on. It does take practice, as with anything, in order to become a habit.
So true LeAnn! When we are aware enough to realize how our thoughts impact our lives and the decisions we make, it’s life-changing!!
I am CONSTANTLY overthinking. I think it’s so important to be able to mentally make note of this when it’s happening and center yourself. It’s so easy to get caught up in a never ending stream of thoughts – something so simple can spiral out of control until you are somehow thinking back to that one time you did X 3 years ago. It definitely is not easy, but through practice I have become a lot better about pulling myself back when my mind goes off on its own. Thanks so much, as always, for the inspiration! I can’t wait to hear the podcast.

This is a good reminder! I also tend to overthink things and it can be exhausting sometimes!
Mary, over-thinking sure can be exhausting——mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually! I am grateful to practice exchanging one thought for another! xo~D
