A BY&T lifestyle podcast for women.

Each time-efficient episode offers empowering practices to intentionally incorporate into your everyday life.

Episode 19: Are you overthinking?

Research shares that every day the average person has about 50,000 thoughts. And some researchers put that number at 70,000 thoughts per day. That’s an average of 2,000 – 3,000 thoughts an hour! That is a lot of thinking!

When you consider these facts, and then ask yourself how you are directing your own thoughts, what would your answer be? Do you realize you have the ability to choose one thought over another? Are you aware of your over-thinking?

This week in The Practice of Living as We Intend podcast, I dive into why we over-think and how we can do otherwise. I share some ideas on how you can identify when you’re over-thinking and then how to challenge those thoughts. (And I share some pretty funny stories en route!). We have 50,000+ life-changing opportunities a day to guide our experiences in a positive and growth-fueled direction— take action with me and let’s practice living as we intend together!

Podcast Summary:

(00:33) At the beginning of this week I shared on social media that I was going to practice the art of “under thinking” aka be aware of my over thinking.

(3:49) Let me share some research with you…. every day the average person has about 50,000 thoughts. And Some researchers put that number at 70,000 thoughts per day.

(5:40) And low and behold, I couldn’t concentrate …

(7:02) And  suddenly, I began to feel the water’s cool breeze, and I began to feel the sun shining on my face as it was rising and I could hear the waves clapping so powerfully.

(9:18) And so I want us both to consider how much we over-think.

(11:17) Are you re-hashing yesterday, last month, a meeting you had or a conversation that took place a week ago. I wish I would have. I would be happier if.

(13:40) Next, challenge yourself and challenge what you’re thinking. Is it over-exaggerated? What’s the opposite of this thought? What if I fail? Well what if I don’t?

(15:00) Begin to get your feet wet a little more and engage in productive thoughts that have themes of believing in yourself and believing in others.

(16:16) You can guide your thoughts. With awareness, with mindfulness, and the choice to challenge what you are thinking, You can redirect the inner traffic of your mind…
